Documentary Credits Guide

Practical Techniques:

Before accepting or rejecting a presentation, pull up Article 14 (Standard for Examination of Documents) to confirm the 5-banking-day rule and the "on their face" standard.
When drafting a bank's discrepancy notice, cite the exact article number next to each discrepancy (e.g. Art. 18 for invoice issues, Art. 20 for B/L issues) and copy the exact wording to support your position.
Use the "Art 18-28" group filter as a quick reference wall when checking a full document set (invoice, transport document, insurance document, certificates) in one sitting.
When negotiating LC terms with an issuing bank, review Article 6 (availability, expiry, place of presentation) and Article 29 (extension of expiry) to catch ambiguous or conflicting clauses before the credit is issued.
